New Year’s Day
New Year’s Day is one of the oldest Holidays celebrated today. It first started in 2000 B.C. by the ancient Babylonians. The New Year’s Day was signified by the new moon after the first day of spring. While we celebrate New Year’s for one or two days, they celebrated New Year’s for eleven days. The calender was then revised in 153 B.C. and it declared the first of January the start of the new year. Some traditions include making New Year’s Resolutions (which people rarely stick to), The Rose Parade, and using a baby to signify the new year. Some people believe that what the do or eat on the first day of the first of the year would always bring the luck, so that’s why most people spend New Year’s with their family.
