Happy Halloween! stubc08

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 2:11 pm on Friday, October 31, 2008

Happy Halloween!  Today is October 31st a.k.a. Halloween, which is a festival/holiday that we celebrate here in the good ole’ U.S. of A.  On Halloween we dress up in costumes and go door to door knocking on people’s doors or ringing people’s doorbells and saying trick-or-treat and they give us candy.  What I think people are so attracted to Halloween is because we all dress up and for one night only we can be something that we are not.

 trick or treat by extraFunky.

Kids Trick-Or-Treating

Some history behind Halloween is it started about 2,000 years ago by some people called the Celts in Ireland.  They considered October 31st New Year’s Eve.  If you want to learn more about the history of Halloween you can visit this website and read the heck out of it.

I personally LOVE Halloween.  I think that it is fun to be apart of anything that a lot of people do (that’s why I love blogging).  BUT, this year I have to go in a wheel chair because of my foot. **Chrissy’s Foot Update I went for an X-Ray Yesterday and they wouldn’t read the X-Ray until today, but I just got the news like literally 1 hour ago and…Drum Roll please… IT’S NOT BROKEN!!!!!!!!! YEAH! I’m sooooo happy, but you think that they would have given me an X-Ray the day that I went to the emergency, but no they don’t do things that make sense in the American Health care system.** ANYWHO,  I am really looking forward to going trick-or-treating tonight with my BFF (and sadly my brothers and like 50,000 (okay maybe that’s an exaggeration) of their closest friends).

I know that I’m probably going to get a ton of comments asking what I am going to be for Halloween and the answer is a Jonas Brothers Groupie and the wheel chair actually works because I’m going to change my description from a Jonas Brothers Groupie who love Joe Jonas to a Jonas Brothers Groupie who love Joe Jonas and was chasing after him and fell and sprained her ankle.  I think that that’s perfect don’t you?

If you don’t know who the Jonas Brothers are you can go to their website and read all about them.

OW! I sprianed my ankle!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 2:09 pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Guess what?  I’m on crutches.  Not fun!  I sprained my ankle in P.E. on Monday and spent like 3 hours in the emergency room.  I can’t have P.E. for 2 weeks and have to use crutches for like 3 or 4 days.  Just wanted to let you know that crutches are very painful.  And today the elevator wasn’t working during 3rd period so I couldn’t go to Spanish class which is on the floor below me, so I had SSR which is just a reading period.

Bullying

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 5:55 pm on Monday, October 20, 2008

I recently came upon a blog with a post about bulling which is something that I a passionately against. So……… I left this as a comment….

Lisa,
I can really relate to the way that you felt as a child. I to hated to be teased and there were many pictures of me upset when I was younger.  Your daughter shouldn’t react to the way that the bullies are treating her, but if she really wanted to say something then she should say thank you when the insult her and then the bullies won’t be expecting that and then they will just leave her alone.

                  Thanks a Bunch,

                      Chrissy

Poverty

Poverty. It is one word that can change some one’s life. What you once had can become just a memory.  This week I played a game about a girl in poverty in a village in Nepal.  This girl went and she changed her village for the better, by making a community center, which helped out everyone in the entire village, and she got a goat that would help her and her family have milk and food to eat.  This was very similar to the video that I watched about the “Girl Effect”.  In this video it describes about what can happen when you give a girl and education.  in the long run, if you give a girl an education she can change her country and if that happens in every country you can change the world.  To read more about the girl effect go to this website.

Election 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 3:53 pm on Monday, October 20, 2008

In the 2008 election I would support John McCain.  I would support him because he believes that it is parents own choices to send their children to schools that will best educate them.  This is important to me because I also believe that education is important to everyone because what they learn in school will set them up for what they will make of themselves in the real world.  Another reason why I would support John McCain is the democrats want gun control, while McCain believes that it is the right to law abiding citizens to bear arms.  This is important to me because I also believe as a second amendment right anyone who follows the law should be able to protect themselves during an attack on their family.  I really think that McCain will be better for our country in the long run.  For a list of John McCain’s policies go to this website.  For a list of Barack Obama’s policies go to this website

Who will you support?

Blogs that I thought were Cool

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 3:27 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2008

I was looking at a few blogs from other kids and I came across a few cool ones.  One of the blogs that I thought was cool wasKaity’s Blog.  I liked Kaity’s blog because she didn’t have a lot of posts, but I think she had alot of strong opinions in those few posts and it really got me thinking.  Another Blog that I liked was Hannnah’s Blog.  Her blog was very interesting and I really like looking through her posts.  Next, I liked Nadine’s Blog.  Some of her blog posts were really long and at first I was like WOW, but then I started to read the posts and I thought that they were very informative and I really liked it.  The last blog that I really liked was Matt’s Blog.  I liked his blog because he had really cool music and his posts were very cool!

National Bully Prevention Week

I recently visited a site that was all about preventing bullying.  On this site, it informs you of the problems that kids are facing with bullies today.  I really like this website.  I think that it might actually have an impact on what kids think and the way that they treat their peers.  If it were up to me I would have every kid in Elementary school have to go on this. The reason why I wouldn’t have Middle or High school kids because I felt that it was aimed at younger kids.  I think that there should be more websites out there like this one.

My Life

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 7:35 am on Wednesday, October 15, 2008

I live in a small town in the small state of Connecticut in the not so small country of the United States of America.  There are mildly hot summers and sometimes brutal winters.  Spring and Fall are so beautiful here.  There are a lot of things to do here even though I find most of it boring.  A few things that actually interest me is Lake Compunce in Bristol (<3), CT. It’s soooooo much fun there. Also, going to Lyman Orcahards and picking apples in the fall (like now)!  There are a lot of other things and they are listed on this website.  If you were to vist Connecticut I would suggest that you vist the places that I mentioned before or go to the website that I said had a list of fun things to do.  I suggest that you visit these places because they are fun and I think that everyone around the world can enjoy them to!

My typical day!

In my typial day I get up at 6:00 to get ready for school.  I catch the bus at 7:50 and take a short ride to school because I am the second to last stop.  When I arrive at school I go to my locker and then into homeroom.  While most kids sit and talk during homeroom, we talk to people from other states(ok it was once, but still soooo cool), like today we talked to people from Kansas.  Then the Morning Announcements come on and we listen as some lady in the office calls people down to the office.  After that I go to my first class, then my second. At third period we go to Spanish every other day and rotating on Fridays.  Then I have tutorial where we get our books for our afternoon classes including PE or UA and lunch.  I then go to lunch for 20 minutes and then after that I go to UA on Tuesday, Thurday, and B week Fridays.  On Monday, Wednesday, and A Week Fridays.  After that I have my two afternoon classes and on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I have eight period which I use to do my Homework.  I go to my house after I get off the b us and do my homework for like 2 hours. Yeah I know my life is boring.

Important Q’s

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 3:49 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2008

What have you stood up for in the past?

Something that I have stood up for in the past is when my brother was getting picked on in the school yard after school.  I stood up for him because if I was in his situation I would have wanted someone to stand up for me.

What do you want to stand up for in the future?

What I want to stand up for in the future is what I believe in.  I want to stand up for because everyone has their own opinion and they should be able to say what they want and/or believe in. It doesn’t matter if your right or wrong if it’s what you believe in it should only matter to you.

What is holding you back from standing up in what you believe in?

What I think is holding me back from standing up in what I believe is criticism. I realize that its shouldn’t matter, but i think that after always being criticized it is really hard to do.

What are would you be willing to risk your life for?

I think that I would be willing to risk my life for is my family and my friends.  I love my family and friends and I would be nothing with out them and I think that they would do anything for me so I would do the same for them.

Something really common that I don’t even notice it anymore

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chrissy at 3:04 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2008

This is kind of a weird post, but something that is really common that I don’t even notice anymore is peoples penmanship! It’s kind of weird, but if you think about it it’s really awesome. The way that a person writes can tell a lot about that person. For example, if they write all sloppy then they probably are disorganized and if they write neatly they probably are organized. I think that thats kind of cool!
