What I Remember About 9/11

I remember a lot about 9/11.  I was in the first grade and I was all excited because it was my friends birthday.  I was in the library when I first heard about about this tragic  event.  I was standing in line to check out my book and i saw two teachers, my school social worker and my soon to be second grade teacher, turn on the television in the library. I saw a plane crash into a skyscraper and I immediately started to question what was going on because normally planes don’t crash into buildings.  The day went on as usual, but the thought of what I saw in the library that morning still was in the back of my mind.  The teachers kept going in and out of the classrooms whispering in one an-other’s ears.  At one time the principal came in with a letter to all the teachers.  It was a very confusing day for me and when Igot home it was even weirder.  When I turned on the television all that was on every single channel was the same image that I saw earlier that morning.  All the news stations were having continuous coverage about what was happened that day and it was on every station.  My mom then turned off the television and explained to me what happened.  So many emotions were going through my mind I didn’t know what to think.  It was by far the most confusing day that I ever went through and still remains to this day.

I can’t even imagine what was going through the people minds that were stuck in the buildings.  And on top of that what happened to the families of the people that were in the buildings.  Those people must be emotionally and mentally scarred for their entire life.  I realize that I am really lucky to have the ones that I care about unharmed and unscathed from that tragic event.  This day has truly changed America and I feel that because of that day we became closer as a nation.  This day has changed us as a nation.  Even today you can go on the internet and find news on 9/11.  New York City has been notorious for mid-day muggings and being the most cold-hearted city in the nation, but on 9/11 they became close, tried their best to remove people from the rubble, and bring people to safety.

But one question still remains, Did you feel safer before or after 9/11?
